 Consultancy:

Our consultants provide clients with strategic advisory services to help manage and mitigate risk. Our approach is to work with senior decision-makers to enable our clients to understand critical risks, identify priorities, and make informed choices about where to invest limited resources to manage those risks. In particular, we advise organisations on how to reduce the risks to their most valuable assets namely, people, reputation, information, and property.


We review the risks faced by each client according to their areas of operation and specific industry; our philosophy is that no two organisations are the same and that this diversity results in unique set of risks and vulnerabilities.


STS provides highly trained, operationally qualified, and well-motivated personnel to undertake a variety of specialist consultancy tasks. Drawn primarily from military Special Forces and other government services, our consultants have extensive experience gained whilst operating in many of the most demanding and hostile of environments. STS consultancy teams may deploy independently or in concert with others, according to the unique needs of each client and/or operational necessity.


 Strategic Risk Audits

STS advises organisations on developing and implementing an overall corporate security strategy. Our strategic risk and security audits focus on providing clients' senior management with an understanding of how their security risks are assessed and managed within their organisation, including the efficacy of existing measures and any shortfalls or omissions.

Typically, STS provides capability in areas that fall outside the realm of normal management resources or audit departments; our independent reports are often the first stage in the development of security policies and procedures to comply with corporate governance standards and obligations, which in turn can minimise the risk of litigation against the organisation or its management.

 Threat Assessment

The focus of STS's threat assessments may be specific businesses, sites, facilities, assets, or individuals. Always conducted using experts in the particular field, our assessments help clients to understand risks and vulnerabilities and provide 'real-world' advice on how to mitigate them.

Having established a 'base line', the majority of our clients have regular reviews thereafter to ensure that new risks and vulnerabilities are identified and addressed.

We can also provide bespoke analysis and assessments of pertinent terrorist, extremist and pressure groups etc., to define the potential threat to specific client operations and assets.

 Physical Security Survey

STS is expert in helping clients to ensure that they have effective procedures, processes and resources to deal with the constantly changing threat environment, wherever in the world they may operate.

Our security surveys include a comprehensive examination of all physical and operational factors relevant to each particular site. The resulting reports are then used to determine the appropriate measures necessary to achieve the client's required protection levels. In most cases, regular reviews are then conducted periodically, or when the threat or situation changes significantly.


  Contingency Planning:

STS supports both government and private sector clients in the development of contingency strategies. Our perspective is, by nature, strategic and covers all aspects from preclusion measures to readiness, mitigation, response, and recovery.


 Business Continuity

Business continuity is a business imperative and is congruent with wider risk management strategies. STS's consultants support our clients through the entire continuity management process from initial scoping to business impact analysis, risk assessment, the development of strategies, documentation, implementation, awareness & training, and exercising of management teams. For the majority of our clients, we also undertake periodic reviews of the plans produced, to ensure they remain relevant and up to date.


 Crisis Preparedness and Response

STS helps clients to devise strategies for diverse crises such as kidnap & ransom demands, political detentions, instability, extortion and terrorism, to enable clients to be prepared to deal with a range of possibilities, according to their perceived vulnerabilities.


We also provide specialist consultants to assist in the handling of unexpected events. In such circumstances, the role of our highly experienced consultants is not to take over the management of the incident, but rather to provide expert advice and guidance to enable the client to make informed decisions when dealing with the unfamiliar demands of a particular situation.


 Information Security:

The security of sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information is of vital importance to all organisations; unauthorised disclosure, whether by accident or design, can have serious commercial consequences such as loss of market advantage, adverse publicity, or regulatory censure. Protecting information is crucial to protecting revenue.


Information security encompasses much more than just IT security. STS works with clients to identify threats and vulnerabilities that exist to their information (in whatever form) and assists them in implementing procedures and systems to minimise and mitigate the risk..


 Information Security Survey

Information security surveys provided by STS form an integral part of many of our clients' risk management strategies. The purpose of our information security surveys is to review vulnerabilities, to limit and mitigate the risks, and to establish and maintain information security protection at the highest appropriate level.


 Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Surveys

The threat to information security in any organisation is wide-ranging; from loss or compromise caused by accidental disclosure to that caused by a deliberate attack. The majority of our clients include technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) surveys (often called "bug sweeps") as part of their overall risk management strategy. At STS, we know that technical surveillance may be achieved using a variety of methods, or indeed a combination of various methods and that the type of attack may be driven by diverse factors (such as opportunity, risk versus reward, location and technical issues, for example), and it is on this basis that STS's TSCM teams approach their assignments.


In addition to undertaking surveys of client facilities using our own highly developed procedures and state-of-the-art detection equipment, STS is also able to advise on the purchase and use of TSCM equipment.


 Penetration Testing

STS penetration testing is tailored to each particular client's requirements and may include examination and testing of the physical and electronic environments, as required. STS has vast expertise in using penetration testing as a 'real-life' test of control using a variety of techniques, from bypassing physical access controls to gain unauthorised site access to hacking into computer systems, and everything in between.


Penetration testing is a useful tool to identify vulnerabilities, and STS provides comprehensive reports to clients on the results, with guidance and recommendations on appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate the risks identified.


 Due Diligence:

Effective due diligence is fundamental to good business; organisations have a responsibility to verify the backgrounds of potential business partners, associates and clients - and yet, in many regions and markets, dependable information may simply not be readily available. A wide spectrum of risk, including impropriety, fraud, corruption, deception, and criminality may catch out the unwary, as may some regulatory requirements, which frequently vary significantly between jurisdictions.
